The Story of SaraGaia
After fifteen years engineering the frictionless speed of the digital world, I felt entirely uprooted. I traveled to Jingdezhen not to build a business, but to recover the sensory "now." There, my optimization mindset shattered. The artisans taught me that true character cannot be programmed with chemical shortcuts; it must be co-authored with the fire.
The kiln is a site of negotiated chaos. Surrendering the arrogance of control to the 72 traditional steps of the soil, we learned humility. Named for Mother Earth, SaraGaia bridges these two realities. We forge pure, zero-lead raw minerals into tactile anchors—unique geological events designed to grant you an “Augustine Pause” and root you once more.

Minerals, Glaze & Geology
We reveal color as the mineral’s inherent truth, guiding raw mineral through the kiln so the earth may awaken and speak in its own language.
At Saragaia, we position ourselves as humble apprentices to nature. We select stones that have slept in the earth’s crust for millions of years – Ocher, Malachite, Sumali – and build a stage for them to speak. What you hold in your hand is a dialogue between the primal earth and the passionate fire; a moment of geological time, solidified forever.
Ocher, rich in iron oxide, transforms through reduction firing into the crystallized olive depth of our Tea Dust glaze. Malachite, a copper-bearing mineral, undergoes dramatic change in the kiln, emerging as the tender blush of Peach Bloom or the saturated intensity of Pomegranate Red. Sumali, the legendary cobalt mineral carried through history, gives rise to Sea Sparkle — a shifting blue of layered depth, where color is not fixed but fluid, shaped by mineral composition and flame.
The Duty of Preservation
At SaraGaia, craftsmanship exists within the living tension of Shou (守) and Po (破) — preservation and renewal. Shou honors the disciplined continuity of Jingdezhen’s thousand-year lineage and its seventy-two-stage porcelain tradition, safeguarding the mineral’s memory through inherited technique. Po represents our contemporary voice: refining and reinterpreting ancient form through a minimalist lens, transforming the traditional vessel into a quiet desktop sculpture — a tactile counterpoint within an increasingly digital world.
This philosophy comes to life through the architecture of the seventy-two stages. From raw earth to vitrified stone, each phase follows a measured rhythm guided not by the clock, but by the drying cadence of clay. In this deliberate pacing, lineage is preserved while form evolves — tradition carried forward through restraint, time, and fire.

Philosophy of Living: An Anchor for the Home
In a world shaped by screens and speed, SaraGaia offers a tactile counterpoint — a return to material presence. Each piece introduces raw texture and natural imperfection into the modern workspace, grounding the hand and slowing the moment. It is our commitment to a future where beauty and meaning are not surrendered to velocity, but restored through touch. What you hold is not merely an object, but a gift of solidified time — shaped by the earth, offered to you.
