An Everyday Object, Shaped by the Rhythm of Bamboo
I want to share the idea behind this piece. It began with a simple question: could an everyday cup carry the quiet rhythm of bamboo—not by imitating its appearance, but by allowing separate forms to become whole?
The Bamboo Puzzle Mug follows the quiet logic of bamboo. Each section can stand on its own, yet together they form something more complete. Separated, they become individual cups for coffee, tea, matcha, and the small rituals that shape a day. Stacked, they return to a single rising form—part vessel, part sculpture.
We chose the cup because it is one of the objects we live with most closely. It is held, warmed, lifted, and returned to each day. Art does not have to remain at a distance. It can become part of the hand, the table, and the moments we make for ourselves.
Porcelain gives this idea a living material. Clay, mineral glaze, fire, and the maker’s hand each leave a trace. The pieces share one form, but no two surfaces settle in exactly the same way.
This is not an imitation of bamboo. It is bamboo’s rhythm translated into an object for living—independent when in use, whole when brought together.

A Glaze with a History
Tea Dust belongs to a long ceramic tradition, known for an earthy green surface animated by fine mineral speckling. Its beauty has never come from a flat, fixed colour, but from the depth created between mineral, glaze, and fire.
A SaraGaia Tone
SaraGaia refined this glaze language for the bamboo form—adjusting the balance of tone, depth, crystallization, and surface until it carried the quiet green we were seeking. The result is our own Tea Dust colour: developed for SaraGaia and distinct in the way it responds to bamboo, light, and touch.
Ochre, the Mineral
At its origin, Tea Dust begins with an iron-rich mineral, red-brown in its raw state. In the kiln, intense heat and a reducing atmosphere begin a delicate transformation. A little more heat can push the surface towards near-black; only when the conditions meet correctly does the characteristic green emerge.
Fire Reveals It
As the glaze cools, tiny crystals form naturally across the surface, creating Tea Dust’s fine speckling and layered depth. Each crystal catches light differently, so the colour shifts gently from morning light to the warmer glow of evening. No two surfaces settle in exactly the same way.

The Bamboo Puzzle Mug is made in Jingdezhen, where porcelain knowledge has been shaped and passed forward for generations. Here, mastery is not the promise of mechanical sameness. It is the ability to read clay, glaze, weather, and fire—and to know when to guide the material and when to let it move on its own.
That judgment matters in every bamboo joint. Each cup must work independently, while the set must still return to one continuous form. The maker trims, adjusts, glazes, fires, and finally selects the pieces whose structure and surface can carry the idea forward.
This is the value of a living craft: not repeating one perfect object without change, but preserving the knowledge required to make each new piece whole.

Made from porcelain with SaraGaia’s mineral Tea Dust Glaze. Food-safe and tested for everyday drinkware use. Lead- and cadmium-free.
Hand washing with mild soap and warm water is recommended to preserve the glaze’s natural luster. Dishwasher use is suitable on the top rack, though frequent washing may gradually soften the surface’s original sheen.
Microwave safe. To care for the porcelain, avoid sudden temperature changes: do not pour boiling water into a cold cup, and do not place a hot piece directly into cold water.
With use, subtle markings or changes in the glaze may appear. This is part of the material’s natural evolution, shaped by light, touch, and daily use. It is not a flaw, but the piece gradually becoming more distinctly yours.
We offer free worldwide shipping. Most orders are prepared and dispatched within 1 week; certain pieces may require 1–2 weeks due to the nature of handmade production. Once your order has shipped, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information.

I am absolutely in love with this bamboo-inspired ceramic cup set! The moss green glaze has a rich, earthy tone, and the reddish-brown accent line along the rims gives it such a refined, handcrafted touch. Absolutely. Our porcelain is 100% lead and cadmium free. Each piece has passed rigorous independent SGS safety testing. The high-kaolin clay and natural mineral glazes are fired at 1330°C (2426°F), making them completely food-safe and stable for coffee, tea, or any hot drinks.
